Description
The name Corryvreckan is Scottish Gaelic for "cauldron of the speckled seas" and is also a famous Celtic legend. Swirling aromas and torrents of deep, peaty, and peppery taste lurk beneath the surface of our beautifully balanced whisky. Like the whirlpool itself, Corryvreckan is not for the faint-hearted!
The heart of Ardbeg Corryvreckan has been made using Ardbeg spirit, which has been slowly matured in virgin French oak barrels on Islay, an experiment that began in the late 1990s. Combined with other stocks of Ardbeg that have been matured in ex-bourbon casks the result is a whisky of the perfect balance of Ardbeg classic style, smoky and salty with the French oak influence that has teased out dark fruity notes and tantalizing hot chili and tabasco flavors. Think blueberries sprinkled with cayenne pepper.
Savor neat, on ice or with water.
Ardbeg Corryvreckan delivers tar, dark chocolate, and warm blackcurrant on the nose, with peppered steak, crispy seaweed, tarry espresso, and star anise on the palate. It is heady, intense, and powerful.
